Configuring ZTE ZXDSL 852 modem in Ubuntu 8.10

After I joined my new job I didnt have much time and chance to work with Linux as I was enjoying it alot when I was in the university. Earlier I was a Fedora fan and later I moved towards Ubuntu as it was very user friendly than the Fedora.. :-)
Today I thought again I should play with Ubuntu little bit and I installed the latest version Ubuntu 8.10..

Also I wanted to configure my ZTE ZXDSL 852 modem in Ubuntu 8.10 and finally I could installed it without much trouble. Thanks for Ubudsl..

Here are the steps I followed to configure my ZTE ZXDSL 852 modem in Ubuntu 8.10

1. Get the relavant ubudsl installation(ubudsl_1.0.0.263-1intrepid_i386.deb) package from http://www.ubudsl.com/en/download.php

2. run the deb package as
sudo dpkg -i ubudsl_1.0.0.263-1intrepid_i386.deb

3. After finishing follwoing the intructions restart the machine. In the systems bar it will show the connection status. Hopefully it works.
(please remember to tick the set default DNS server as OpenDNS while in the installation)

4. I strongly advice you to go and read the Applications---->Internet--->UbuDSL Applet for more help..Specially the first page there..
